An Inscription on a Stone Slab from Silo 4 at Khirbat al-Mudayna ath-Thamad

Abstrakt

This article is dealing with a short inscription/incision on a palm-sized stone slab discovered by coincidence among a major dump of older broken pottery in a backfilled silo that had fallen out of use during the Iron Age II. While the individual letters are legible, the meaning of the incised words remains insecure. The epigraphical study of the letter forms and the inscription/incision as a whole might shed light on narrowing down the precise dating and purpose of the backfilling of Silo 4 and its relation to the site itself.
