A Moabite Woman as the ‘Right Son’: Ruth as Naomi’s and Boaz’s Daughter

Author(s)

Abstract

This article discusses the importance of Ruth’s familial relationships for her
integration into Israel. Naomi’s and Boaz’s address of Ruth as “my daughter” recalls
the matriarchs’ and patriarchs’ disagreements about the right son and their rejection of exogamy in Genesis and partly correct it in favour of Ruth.
