Welcome at the Department of Biblical Studies

The Department of Biblical Studies at the Faculty of Catholic Theology is a place for critical and vibrant engagement with the biblical texts. In our research and teaching, we examine the Old and New Testaments within their historical, literary, and socio-cultural contexts, adopting an interdisciplinary approach, maintaining international links, and engaging in interfaith dialogue. We also explore the reception of biblical texts and examine their relevance for the present day.

Three professors and five university assistants conduct research and teach at our institute. An administrative assistant and teaching assistants support the team.
